Distance changes in mileage expenses
Declaree uses Google Maps to calculate the distance for mileage expenses. It can happen that for the same trip you get a different distance. This difference occurs because Google determines the optimal route, depending on the traffic or on road blocks.
For example, if you create a mileage expense in the morning, Google might detect a traffic jam and will therefore suggest a different route than usual. When you would make the same mileage expense a few hours later and there's no traffic, it will return a different distance than in the morning.
We understand that this difference might not be desired, however, we are limited by Google API, as it checks the standard routes live, at the moment you add your mileage. We do offer the option to always select the shortest route. In this case, Google returns up to 3 different routes between the locations, selecting the shortest one. In our experience this leads to less variance when it comes to distance, however, slight changes might still occur.
We do advise the use of complete addresses to ensure more consistent route calculations.
