The CO₂ module in Declaree helps you track and export CO₂ emissions linked to mileage expenses, accurately and automatically. Here’s how it works:
1. What the Module Does
-
Real Emission Data: Declaree uses the RDW API to retrieve official emissions by entering a Dutch license plate.
-
Emissions per Mileage: CO₂ emissions are calculated and shown for each expense.
-
Export Data: Emission data can be exported via the Datadump module.
-
Dutch Plates Only: Currently, the module supports only vehicles registered with Dutch license plates.
2. How It Works
Add a License Plate
When creating a mileage expense:
-
A field appears for entering your vehicle’s license plate.
-
Once saved, this number is also visible in your user profile under the Defaults tab.
-
The plate is only visible to you. Other users, including managers, cannot view it.
View Emission Details
-
After adding the expense to a report, an icon appears below the mileage entry showing the calculated CO₂ emissions for this mileage.
-
If the license plate is missing or invalid, the CO₂ value will display as “NA”.
3. Export Emissions Data
To export CO₂ emissions:
-
Go to Configuration → Import & Export.
-
Click More → select Dump.
-
In the dialog, choose Emissions from the Type dropdown.
4. Additional Details
-
License plate field visibility
This field only appears for mileage rates with the transportation mode set to Driving.
-
Emission sources
The system uses WLTP values (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure) via the RDW API. If WLTP is not available, the fallback is NEDC (New European Driving Cycle). -
Other transportation modes
-
Bike: 0 g/km
-
Walking: 0 g/km
-
Public transport: 20 g/km (based on http://CO₂emissiefactoren.nl)

By using the CO₂ module, you ensure accurate and reportable insights into the environmental impact of business travel—fully aligned with your sustainability goals.
